Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Radiologist to join our team at the NHS. The successful candidate will have a strong interest in Interventional Radiology and a proven track record of delivering high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in the supervision and education of radiology registrars, specialty doctors, and radiographers.
  • Teach junior doctors and medical students, promoting a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
  • Contribute to audit and quality improvement initiatives, ensuring the highest standards of patient care and safety.
  • Participate in general reporting of CT and MRI scans, as well as subspecialty reporting in vascular and interventional radiology.
  • Support the day-to-day radiology service provision, including inpatient reporting, radiographer support, and duty radiologist duties.
Person Specification
  • Entry on the GMC specialist register in Clinical Radiology or eligibility for entry within six months of attaining Certificate of Completion of Training.
  • Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for gaining CCT in Clinical Radiology.
  • Demonstrable skills in written and spoken English, with the ability to communicate effectively with patients and colleagues.
Clinical Governance
  • Experience of Radiology Governance meetings and Learning meetings (REALM), with a focus on error analysis and learning from mistakes.
  • Ability to work within the Trust and NHS performance framework, with a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care.
  • Experience of managing a Radiology department, with a focus on efficiency, effectiveness, and smooth operation.
Teaching and Education
  • Experience of teaching radiology to non-radiologists and trainees, with a focus on promoting a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
  • Commitment to continuing medical education, with a focus on clinical governance and audit.
  • Willingness to undertake additional professional responsibilities at local, regional, or national levels.
