Job Title: Transport Planner

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Transport Planner to join our Transport team at our Heywood site. As a Transport Planner, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day planning of the transport operation, ensuring the highest standards of performance are maintained at all times.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Subcontracting and planning orders out of multiple warehouse facilities and manufacturing sites across the UK.
  • Planning daily workload for a fleet of vehicles based on and off site.
  • Dealing with queries and issues by telephone, fax, and email from our customers, sub-contract hauliers, and warehousing sites.
  • Liaising with Traffic and Administration teams to ensure the highest standards of performance are maintained at all times.
  • Maintaining, creating, and updating spreadsheets and databases for customer reports.
  • Reporting problems and dealing with issues and any queries that arise.
  • Supporting the fleet and driver training team as and when required.
  • Completing pre- and post-debrief for all driver shifts.
  • Delivering effective, professional, and timely internal and external communications.

Requirements:

  • A high level of transport planning expertise in a busy and demanding environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organisational skills.
  • The ability to make decisions under pressure and to a tight timescale.
  • A flexible and adaptable approach to working in order to meet the requirements of the business, particularly at peak periods during the year.
  • The ability to communicate well at all levels within the business.
  • The ability to identify and suggest improvements to benefit both the Company and our customer.
  • A highly motivated individual able to work as part of a small friendly team and under own initiative.
  • Knowledge of SAP, Microlise, and Road Runner would be advantageous.
