Job Title: Conservation and Urban Design Officer

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Conservation, Heritage and Design Team for a dynamic and committed individual to support the Council's professional Conservation, Heritage and Design advice service.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide specialist advice on built heritage and urban design matters to the Council and its customers.
  • Analyse, interpret, report, and present information to assist the Council and its customers in making appropriate decisions related to proposed development interventions within the built environment.
  • Collaborate with relevant professional and technical officers, district, borough, town, parish councils, Historic England, The National Lottery Heritage Fund, and other relevant agencies, voluntary groups, and members of the public.
  • Work within a multi-disciplinary team of built and natural environmental specialists in urban design, landscape design, ecology, and archaeology.
Requirements:
  • Broad knowledge of built heritage issues and demonstrable urban design skills.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to liaise and work jointly with relevant professionals and agencies.
  • Degree or Diploma in conservation of the built historic environment or equivalent.
  • Intermediate/advanced skills in Microsoft Office and design packages such as AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Suite.
