About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Investment Consultant to join our Investment DB Business Unit at Hymans Robertson. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in supporting our Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct high-quality research analysis and communicate investment advice to a wide range of clients, with a focus on LGPS clients.
- Review and sign off investment advice on various topics, including investment strategy, structure, investment markets, risk management, asset managers, responsible investment, and governance.
- Direct and advise a portfolio of predominantly LGPS clients on a range of investment matters.
- Deliver high-quality, expert investment advice by employing strategic and innovative solutions.
- Be actively involved in developing business for the firm, through client prospecting, relationship building, and supporting new business pitches.
- Undertake activities to build and enhance your Business Unit and firm's profile, including networking and speaking at relevant conferences.
- Develop the consulting capabilities of the practice by coaching and mentoring junior team members, including investment analysts within our client teams.
- Contribute to internal initiatives, such as Quality Assurance and Learning and Development programs.
Requirements
- Previous experience working within a similar role in a consultancy environment, fund management, or other relevant investment sector with some exposure to working with LGPS clients.
- FFA/CFA qualified (or close to achieving this), preferably authorized to give investment advice by the FCA (either following one of these qualification paths or having an alternative qualification/experience).
- Strong commercial awareness of the pensions and employee benefits market, with the ability to keep up to date with topical matters arising within the UK Pensions Market.
- Experience consulting with clients on responsible investment issues (as part of your broader consulting experience) with some knowledge of collective investment vehicles.
- Detailed understanding of the major asset classes used in UK Pension Scheme Strategies and the legislative framework for UK pension schemes.
- Exceptional communication skills, demonstrated through your ability to consult and influence successfully with stakeholders at senior/board level.
- Flexible, innovative approach to developing solutions for clients and enthusiasm for solving complex problems.
- Ability to work well as part of a team, lead by example, and support the coaching and development of junior colleagues within your Business Unit.
- Ability to articulate innovative and complex ideas and develop them into tangible offerings.
- Flexibility to travel to client and other Hymans Robertson offices when required.
