About the Role

This is a new and pivotal Fibre Test Engineer position, offering the chance to join a rapidly growing organisation and thrive in a creative, collaborative environment. You'll play a key role in bringing next-generation products to market while advancing your career within a secure, high-growth company.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Refine Optical Test Methods: Create and refine optical test methods to characterise and qualify new optical fibre products.
  • Support Manufacturing Process Transition: Assist in the transition of optimised manufacturing processes from development to production.
  • Perform Advanced Fibre Handling: Perform fusion splicing, mechanical and laser cleaving, fibre tapering, and thermal diffusion.
  • Conduct Qualification Testing: Conduct qualification testing to ensure product reliability.
  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Collaborate closely with design, process, and manufacturing teams.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: You have a Degree/Master's in Engineering, Optical Science, Physics, or a related field, with experience in fibre characterisation or fibre component manufacturing.
  • Technical Skills: You possess practical knowledge of fusion splicing, cleaving, and tapering technologies.
  • Software and Systems: You're proficient with test equipment, data recording, and computer-based systems.
  • Software Proficiency: Ideally, you have experience with LabView software and Python.
  • Communication and Teamwork: You're skilled in Microsoft Office and have strong English communication skills, both technical and conversational.
  • Personal Qualities: You thrive in a team, are adaptable, and embrace challenges.
