Component Development Engineer - Fibre Optics

Reed Engineering is seeking a highly skilled Component Development Engineer to join their R&D Product Development team in Southampton. This role is pivotal in driving the optical development of next-generation fibre optic and fibre laser products through the full product development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop innovative fibre laser components as part of the product development team in conjunction with technology development and manufacturing groups.
  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary project team to ensure successful new product launches.
  • Manage project risks and report on project progress to wider teams.
Requirements:
  • 1-3 years of experience in a laser technology, optics, or similar hi-tech product development environment.
  • Knowledge of product requirements, design, qualification, or process development.
  • Experience in cross-functional project teams delivering new products into a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to critically analyse and interpret data.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Physics, Engineering, Photonics, Materials, or a related subject area.
  • Creative approach to problem-solving.
