Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced ESOL teacher to join our team as a Community Learning Specialist. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and delivering effective courses to adult learners in community settings, promoting their progression to further learning and employment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver ESOL courses to adult learners in community settings, incorporating digital skills and employability.
  • Work with learners to promote regular attendance, punctuality, and progression to further learning and employment.
  • Collaborate with team leaders and curriculum managers to develop the ESOL curriculum, ensuring it meets the needs of learners and enables them to progress to further education or employment.
  • Contribute to course, area, and curriculum reviews to identify areas for improvement, including retention, completion, and achievement rates.
  • Attend professional development opportunities to enhance teaching and learning practices.

Requirements:

  • Substantial adult teaching experience in community or FE college settings.
  • Substantial experience of working with hard-to-reach and vulnerable adult learners in the community and their families.
  • A range of experiences teaching ESOL to learners in community settings.
  • Proven experience of working in partnership with voluntary and community organisations.
  • Ability to design and deliver effective courses at a range of levels to adults with various barriers to learning.
  • Ability to accurately assess the abilities and needs of adult learners and incorporate this into course planning, lesson planning, and delivery.
