About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sous Chef to join our team at Young's Pubs. As a key member of our kitchen team, you will be responsible for assisting the Head Chef in the day-to-day running of the kitchen, ensuring that high standards of food quality and presentation are maintained at all times.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Head Chef in menu planning, food preparation, and presentation.
  • Supervise and train junior kitchen staff to ensure that they are working efficiently and effectively.
  • Monitor and control kitchen inventory, ensuring that stock levels are maintained and waste is minimized.
  • Contribute to the development of new menu ideas and dishes, working closely with the Head Chef and other members of the kitchen team.
  • Ensure that all health and safety procedures are followed, and that the kitchen is maintained in a clean and hygienic condition.
  • Work closely with the front-of-house team to ensure that customer service standards are met.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef in a high-volume kitchen environment.
  • Excellent culinary skills, with a passion for producing high-quality food.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and train junior staff.
  • Ability to work under pressure, maintaining a calm and professional demeanor in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Knowledge of health and safety procedures, and a commitment to maintaining a clean and hygienic kitchen environment.
