Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, United Kingdom ARU Full time

About ARU:

ARU is a global university that transforms lives through innovative, inclusive, and entrepreneurial education and research. The university holds a Gold award for the quality of its education, awarded through the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF). ARU's research institutes and four faculties bridge scientific, technical, and creative fields, delivering impactful research that tackles pressing issues and makes a real difference to communities.

About the Role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic audiologist to join the project team of the first UK National Eye Health and Hearing Study. The project involves measuring sensory health among a sample of randomly selected adults in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, commencing in late Summer/Autumn.

The Project Management Group is hosted by the Vision and Eye Research Institute (VERI) at Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge. VERI is part of the new School of Medicine, with a profile rated World Leading, Internationally Excellent, and International in the latest Research Excellence Framework (REF) review.

You will work within a multi-disciplinary research team on this project, investigating the prevalence of vision and hearing loss in the population, the barriers to uptake of care, and the scope of existing care pathways to meet known and unmet demand. You will interact effectively with stakeholders across the public sector, charitable, and academic spheres, requiring considerable leadership skills and the ability to manage a fieldwork team involved in community-based data collection.

With a degree in audiology, you will have experience working with patients and the public. You will need to have an enthusiastic and flexible approach, good interpersonal and negotiating skills, and be able to drive. The fieldwork for this study is in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, and several months will be spent in different community-based research sites.

The ideal applicant will live in or close to this area and be prepared to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, depending on the availability of the population sample. You will be responsible for hearing assessments and quantitative/qualitative measurements, supervised by a technician and administrator.

ARU offers an agile working culture and an extensive range of benefits, including generous holiday entitlement, occupational pension schemes, training and development opportunities, travel to work scheme, and a competitive relocation package. Visit our website for full details.

We have a responsibility to ensure that all employees are eligible to live and work in the UK.

The role being advertised has not been assessed as business critical and is therefore NOT open to applications from those who will require sponsorship under the points-based system.

We reserve the right to close this vacancy once we have received sufficient applications.
