Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced and innovative Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist to lead our Neuro Rehabilitation team at Southend University Hospital. As a key member of our team, you will oversee the development and coordination of our OT service, providing specialist assessment and intervention for acute stroke patients.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Lead the development and implementation of our OT service, ensuring high-quality care and best practices.
  2. Provide clinical leadership and specialist guidance to Band 5 and Band 6 OTs, promoting evidence-based practice and continuous improvement.
  3. Manage a clinical caseload, completing specialist assessments, treatment sessions, and discharge planning, while ensuring effective communication with multidisciplinary teams.
  4. Develop and maintain strong relationships with consultants, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, ensuring seamless care coordination and patient outcomes.
  5. Ensure compliance with HCPC regulations, Royal College of Occupational Therapy professional code of conduct, and Trust policies and procedures.

Person Specification:

Essential:

  • HCPC registration as Occupational Therapist
  • Graduate Diploma or Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Experience of working in an acute hospital or intermediate care setting
  • Experience within specific acute hospital areas
  • Experience of working as a Band 6 OT

Desirable:

  • Experience of MDT working
  • Evidence of helping support students or junior staff
