At National Highways, we are seeking a highly skilled Project Controls Manager to join our Regional Investment Programme (RIP) as part of our Major Projects (MP) division.

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in Cost Management and Earned Value within the Regional Programme, ensuring that cost management principles are followed and projects are compliant with cost management processes and procedures.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing and utilising project controls expertise to identify best practices and recommending improvement actions where there are challenges;
  • Leading on cost review sessions, analysis and verification of project and regional reports, ensuring the data accurately reflects the current project performance for onwards reporting;
  • Working collaboratively within PMO to define Best Practice and Business Performance improvement including integrated baseline management planning and scheduling, risk management, performance analysis and reporting;
  • Embedding baseline management & change control;
  • To ensure data integrity to enhance the benefits of an integrated project controls environment and analyse cross functional performance;
  • Supporting in wider operation of the PMO and covering for the Regional PMO manager as required.

Requirements for the role include:

  • Operational experience of working in a project or programme controls environment;
  • Demonstrable experience of working with a wide range of stakeholders to drive improved project performance;
  • Experience in using analysis of project controls data to inform business decision making;
  • Ability to work confidently and proactively on own initiative to resolve challenges and meet deadlines;
  • Ability to deal constructively with working in a fast-paced environment with conflicting priorities;
  • Experience of PRISM is desirable.

We are responsible for major enhancements to our road network, making roads safer, journeys more reliable and unlocking economic growth. Our team of around 800 work closely with the supply chain to design and construct road projects as well as develop a pipeline of possible projects as we look to the future.

In RIP, we are responsible for the development and delivery of junction improvements, bypasses, projects of National significance and major infrastructure projects. We deliver capital improvements that will help to grow the economy and deliver wider social benefits and improve infrastructure at the same time as ensuring we work to safeguard the environment for future generations in line with our Carbon and Environmental Strategy.
