Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Consultant in Palliative Medicine to join our well-established Specialist Palliative Care Services in Buckinghamshire. The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic team providing high-quality care to patients with palliative needs.

The post holder will work closely with our multidisciplinary team to develop and implement innovative care strategies, ensuring the best possible outcomes for our patients. With a strong focus on patient-centered care, we are committed to delivering compassionate and personalized support to those in need.

Main Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead the development of community palliative care services in conjunction with other providers.
  • Work collaboratively with acute and community teams to deliver patient-centered care.
  • Ensure compliance with CQC recommendations and maintain high standards of care.
  • Participate in senior management team meetings to drive service improvements.

Person Specification

  • Strong clinical knowledge of palliative medicine.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Good personal and interpersonal skills.

Education, Qualifications & Training

  • MRCP or equivalent GMC registerable qualifications.
  • On the Specialist Register for Palliative Medicine.

Experience

  • Good clinical knowledge of palliative medicine to enable the consultant to work independently.
  • Computer skills - ability to use word processor, spreadsheet programme, and web browser.

Clinical Governance

  • Understanding of principles of Clinical Governance, patient safety, and experience.
  • Commitment to continuing education and engagement in the appraisal process.

Leading & Managing

  • Good personal and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to judge conflicting demands by planning and prioritizing.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Communication

  • Highly developed communication skills.
