Job Title: Adult and Child Psychiatrist

This is a temporary role for a Consultant Psychiatrist at the Spinney Hospital in Greater Manchester, which has been rated 'Outstanding' by the CQC. The successful candidate will be responsible for the care of 45 forensic inpatients, including those in medium and low secure wards, as well as a PICU.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality clinical service in our 97-bedded all-male unit, covering the care pathway from medium to low secure and locked rehabilitation.
  • Work with the multi-disciplinary team, comprising a consultant psychiatrist, specialty doctor, clinical psychologist, nursing, occupational therapists, social workers, forensic psychotherapist, physical health team, and a visiting GP every week.
  • Attend SMT morning handover and participate in ward rounds, clinical audit, and quality improvement work.
  • Lead the implementation of risk assessment and risk management.
  • Participate in clinical governance and ensure the implementation of policies and protocols.
  • Write and supervise various reports, including Mental Health Act tribunals and managers' reports, and attend hearings.

Person Specification
  • You must have full GMC registration, MRCPsych or equivalent, and be on the Specialty Register for Forensic Psychiatry or General Psychiatry with forensic experience.
