The University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled Post-Mortem Review Officer to join their team. The successful candidate will have experience in working with multi-disciplinary teams and be able to communicate effectively with clinicians, coroners, and bereaved families. A strong understanding of medical terminology is essential for this role.

About the Role

As a Post-Mortem Review Officer, you will be responsible for reviewing the causes/circumstances of death and providing support to staff within the Trust. You will also be expected to develop a responsive and fluid service that is adaptable to the needs of the Trust, patients, community, and workforce.

Key Responsibilities
  • To review the causes/circumstances of death and provide informed discussions about sensitive issues with bereaved families, clinicians, coroner, and registration service staff.
  • To collect additional information regarding the cause of death and communicate via all mediums with families, carers, clinical teams, and other relevant parties.
  • To support the development of a Medical Examiners Service that scrutinises every applicable inpatient death in the Trust and reviews the circumstances of all community deaths in West Sussex.

The University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust offers a competitive salary of approximately £45,000 - £70,000 per annum, depending on experience.
