About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Emergency Medicine Consultant to join our team at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust. As a Consultant in Emergency Medicine and Paediatric Emergency Medicine, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality evidence-based care to patients across the full spectrum of emergencies in patients of all ages.

Main Responsibilities

  • Delivery of high-quality evidence-based care to patients across the full spectrum of emergencies in patients of all ages.
  • Collaboration with pre-hospital, primary and secondary care colleagues to provide holistic patient-centred care.
  • Providing clinical and educational supervision to doctors and ACPs in training, including formal and informal teaching and training.
  • On-call responsibilities to provide direct senior clinical input into serious/complex cases and telephone advice on clinical, medico-legal and ethical issues.
  • Commitment to focus on personal and team well-being and to support sustainable working practices for the Emergency Department team.

About the Department

The Emergency Department at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust is a state-of-the-art facility that benefits from a 4-bed resuscitation room, 12 majors treatment rooms, and internal CBRN decontamination facilities. The department sees approximately 70,000 patients per year and is part of the West Yorkshire Trauma Network.

Person Specification

  • Full GMC registration with a licence to practice.
  • Entry on the GMC Specialty Register via CCT, CESR or European Community Rights.
  • Revalidated (or in state of readiness for future revalidation).

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • Other relevant qualifications (e.g. BSc).
  • ALS, ATLS or ETC, APLS.

Management Experience

  • Understanding of management issues, clinical governance, service planning and development, and quality improvement.

Teaching Experience

  • Evidence of teaching experience.
  • Formal training in teaching methods (e.g. Train the Trainers course).
