Job Summary:

Optimas OE Solutions is seeking an experienced Toolmaker to join our team. As a Toolmaker, you will be responsible for the production and repair of cold forging tool sets.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manufacture and fit production tooling to tight tolerances
  • Operate and maintain tool room equipment, including conventional lathes, milling machines, surface and cylindrical grinders, and hydraulic presses
  • Use CNC, VMC, and EDMs, as well as bar-feed lathes, and set, program, and operate them
  • Self-certify work to meet quality and continual improvement standards
  • Assist management and staff in identifying and introducing measures to improve productivity, quality, and working methods and conditions
  • Maintain high production rates with consistently high accuracy and quality
  • Work with minimal supervision within the team structure
  • Ensure understanding of work requirements and duties, and highlight training needs and requirements

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Accurate machining on lathes, surface and cylindrical grinders, and milling machines
  • Understanding and reading Engineering drawings to BS 308
  • Fault detection
  • Effective communication (verbal and written)
  • GCSE (or equivalent) Grade 4 or above in Mathematics and English
  • Preferred: OND or ONC Engineering (Mechanical/Production/Manufacturing or equivalent)
  • Preferred: Nationally recognized apprenticeship
  • Preferred: NVQ Level 2 or above in a relevant discipline
