Finance Business Advisor

About the Role
The Finance Business Advisor will provide high-quality financial advice and analysis to Project Managers, Priority Leads, Budget Holders, Senior Managers, and Directors. This role is crucial in strengthening effective decision-making, performance management, and achieving strategic goals within a Directorate area.
Main Responsibilities
* Develop strong working relationships with Finance colleagues, allocated Directorates, Budget Holders, Senior Managers, Directors, and wider organisation to support delivering Innovate UK Business Connect's commitments and company strategy.
* Maintain good understanding of allocated Directorates' business model (activities, challenges, and objectives) and recognise its impact on Innovate UK Business Connect's finance position.
* Promote Finance Business Partnering function by increasing awareness and transparency of financial policies, processes, and controls across the organisation.
* Ensure compliance and good governance with financial regulations and accounting standards.
* Provide timely advice on proposal preparation and tenders from a financial perspective, identifying associated costs, benefits, and risks.
* Analyse, interpret, and communicate financial data to various stakeholders.
Project and Performance Management
* Provide information, financial guidance, and advice to Project Managers and Budget Holders for effective budget management.
* Manage project finances, including claim preparation, invoicing, monitoring, and analysis.
* Produce accurate financial forecasts and plans, highlighting potential opportunities and risks.
* Lead external project audits by liaising with auditors and the Financial Accounting and Management Reporting team.
Requirements
* Part-qualified Accountant or qualified by experience.
* Experience in supporting effective financial management and reporting.
* Strong interpersonal, influencing, and communication skills.
* Ability to plan, prioritise, and exercise judgement on complex financial issues.
* High IT literacy and excellent Excel skills.
