About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced In-House Advocate to join our Legal Services team at Bury Council. As an In-House Advocate, you will play a critical role in representing the council at Court and supporting children and young people's social care colleagues.

You will have the opportunity to provide significant input to the development and implementation of our legal compliance policies and procedures, working closely with the Head of Social Care Legal Team to ensure excellent practice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Represent the council at Court and provide legal representation for children and young people.
  • Support children and young people's social care colleagues in their work with vulnerable children and families.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of legal compliance policies and procedures.
  • Work closely with the Head of Social Care Legal Team to ensure excellent practice and high-quality legal representation.
Requirements
  • A strong track record of success in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of Public and Private Law (Children).
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Advocacy experience, particularly in a children's services context.
