Scientific Instrumentation Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Scientific Instrumentation Specialist to join our team and contribute to the development of a novel AI and data-driven approach to materials discovery and development.
Key Responsibilities- Instrumentation and Maintenance: Develop and monitor support systems for instrumentation, including vacuum pumps, thermal management, and exhaust. Perform, or schedule with a vendor, periodic maintenance.
- Data Management: Work with the data management team to establish a tracking system for instrument maintenance and early detection of instrument failure.
- Instrument Calibration: Work with the automation team and instrument scientists to establish and document instrument calibration routines. Assist with execution of calibration routines and instrument operation in general, as needed.
- Experimentation and Analysis: Analyze, report, and present findings of experiments to the FL96 research team.
- Hands-on Experience: Hands-on experience working with scientific instrumentation, including x-ray, vacuum, and chemical handling equipment.
- Maintenance and Operation: Experience with maintenance and safe operation of vacuum instrumentation and lasers.
- Repair and Maintenance: Experience with repair of mechanical and electrical components of scientific instruments.
- Standard Operating Procedures: Experience developing standard operation procedures for scientific instruments.
- Education: Bachelors degree in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, or related field.
- Soft Skills: Strong self-starter and independent thinker, with strong attention to detail. Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of conveying technical information in a clear and thorough manner.
- Teamwork: Eager to work with highly skilled and dynamic teams in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, and technical setting.
- Scanning Probe Microscopy: Experience with scanning probe microscopy and/or nanoindentation techniques.
- Experiment Automation: Experience with experiment automation.
- Computer Programming: Experience with computer programming.
