About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Cost Manager to join our Real Estate team in Edinburgh. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading the Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) specific deliverables within large projects or direct MEP commissions.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cost management, with experience in delivering MEP elements of work for clients. You will be responsible for establishing early budgets, estimating, and cost planning, managing design teams, tendering, and procurement, as well as post-contract reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Commission Management: leading on MEP direct commissions, assisting with feasibility studies, and writing procurement reports.
  • Estimating and Cost Planning: producing and presenting final cost plans to clients, managing pre-qualification stages, and dealing with post-contract cost variances.
  • Tendering and Procurement: managing single and two-stage tendering, procuring, and negotiating final accounts.
  • Cost Management: taking personal responsibility for cost checks, valuations, and ensuring timely and accurate cost reporting.
  • Client Interface: interfacing with clients and other consultants at all project stages, and leading a cost management team where necessary.

Requirements:

  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality cost management services across the project lifecycle.
  • Professionally qualified (RICS or similar) or working towards.
  • Degree or HNC level qualification.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects.
  • Experience in delivering MEP elements of work for clients.
  • Knowledge and contacts within the MEP supply chain.
  • Commercially astute with good negotiation skills.
  • Excellent communication and people skills.
