Job Summary:

The Master Maritime Operations Manager will be responsible for the overall command and operation of the vessel, ensuring compliance with Flag and Class legislation, Serco Marine's Integrated Management System, and Serco Limited's policies.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the seaworthiness and safety of the vessel, crew, and embarked clients, and prevent pollution.
  • Prepare the vessel for voyages and tasks, and chair shipboard management and safety committee meetings as required.
  • Liaise with operational authorities on vessel tasking and operational matters, and create, maintain, and support operational and technical instructions.
  • Review and uphold the operational efficiency, morale, and welfare of the crew, and ensure the safety of all personnel embarked.
  • Be familiar with all factors affecting the immediate operation of the ship, and ensure compliance with relevant Merchant Shipping Legislation.
  • Issue standing orders to the crew for the efficient operation of the ship, and establish, maintain, and review risk assessments for all tasks and key shipboard operations.
  • Make daily inspections of the vessel to ensure high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and preservation, and submit reports on the vessel's condition and operation to the Operations and Engineering Offices.
  • Be actively involved in the navigation of the vessel, and personally supervise navigation when entering or leaving port, in confined waters, or in adverse weather conditions.

Requirements:

  • MCA Certificate of Competence Master GT (Near Coastal) - as a minimum.
  • STCW Personal Survival Techniques (5 Year Refresher Course).
  • STCW Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities (5 Year Refresher Course).
  • STCW Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting (5 Year Refresher Course).
  • STCW Certificate of Proficiency in Survival Craft (5 Year Refresher Course).
  • STCW Proficiency in Designated Security Duties (5 Year Refresher Course).
  • Medical Care On board (5 Year Refresher Course).
  • STCW Elementary First Aid.
  • Unrestricted ENG1.
  • Methodical in approach, and good standard of education.
