Job Summary

Job Title: Specialist Nurse for Children in Care

Job Type: Full-time

Location: Plymouth, South Hams & West Devon

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake comprehensive statutory review health assessments for children aged 6 months to 18 years using a trauma-informed approach.
  • Compile and implement holistic health plans for children and young people in care.
  • Provide health interventions as required for children and young people in care.
  • Work in partnership with Social Workers, foster carers, and other professionals who work with the child.
  • Offer health promotion advice on a range of factors affecting children in the care system.
  • Participate in multi-agency meetings relating to children and young people in care and care leavers.
  • Develop and deliver training on factors affecting the health and wellbeing of children in care to a range of professionals.

Requirements
  • Qualified to diploma/degree level as Registered General Nurse, Registered Children's Nurse, or Registered Mental Health Nurse.
  • Level 3 training in Safeguarding children
  • Experience of working in the community, including working with children or young people with complex emotional needs.
  • Evidence of working autonomously
  • Experience of multi-agency working
  • Work with children who are subject to Child Protection procedures
  • Evidence of trauma-informed work with children and families
