SEN Teaching Assistant Job Description


Wayman Learning Trust is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to provide support to students with speech and language difficulties in a vibrant and inclusive primary school setting.



Key Responsibilities


  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with speech and language difficulties, helping them engage with classroom activities and learning tasks.
  • Assist in implementing tailored learning plans designed to address the specific communication needs of students.
  • Work collaboratively with the class teacher and SENCo to adapt resources and strategies that support speech and language development.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers and SEN staff on a regular basis.
  • Foster a positive and encouraging learning environment, helping students build their confidence in communication and social interactions.
  • Assist in managing any behavioural challenges related to communication difficulties using appropriate intervention strategies.


Requirements


  • Previous experience working with children with speech and language difficulties is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge or experience in speech and language therapy or related interventions is a plus.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills with the ability to work effectively alongside teachers and SEN staff.
  • Patience, empathy, and a commitment to helping students overcome barriers to learning.
  • A clear DBS check and legal right to work in the UK.
