Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist to join our team at Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust. The successful candidate will have a strong focus on obstetrics and a commitment to enhancing maternal safety within our unit.

The post is a new role following approval of expansion of consultant body to provide gynae cover during on call. The successful candidate will have a strong obstetric focus, and should be able to demonstrate experience and interest in fetal medicine, preterm clinic and high risk obstetrics. A complementary interest in maternal medicine would also be of advantage and lend support to the existing consultant body in their provision of obstetric services.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, leading a team of healthcare professionals, and contributing to the development of our obstetric services. The role will involve working closely with other consultants, midwives, and nurses to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Providing clinical leadership and expertise in obstetrics and gynaecology
  • Leading a team of healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality patient care
  • Contributing to the development of our obstetric services and improving maternal safety
  • Working closely with other consultants, midwives, and nurses to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients
Person Specification
  • Full GMC registration
  • MRCOG or equivalent
  • CCT or equivalent (or within 6 months of CCT)
  • Advance Labour Ward ATSM or equivalent
  • Subspecialist training in Fetal Maternal Medicine or equivalent ATSM in Antenatal Care/ High Risk Pregnancy or equivalent
  • ATSM in Labour Ward Lead
  • ATSM in Fetal medicine
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Clinical training and experience in general obstetrics and gynaecology equivalent to that required for a UK CCT
  • Experience of clinical risk management, audit and research
  • Experience in general gynaecological emergencies and a readiness to take part in the obstetric duty rota
Management and Administrative Experience
  • Evidence of management and administrative experience
  • Attendance at management training course
  • Evidence of involvement in Obstetric Governance and Risk Management, and Maternity Transformation Programme
Teaching and Training Experience
  • Wide experience of supervising junior medical staff and teaching and training junior medical staff and midwives/nurses
  • Documented evidence of teaching and training courses attended
  • Experience in role as educational supervisor
  • Simulation training
Disclosure and Barring Service Check
