About the RoleWe are seeking a compassionate and knowledgeable Senior Nurse to join our team at HMP Erlestoke. You will be responsible for providing high-quality primary care services and specialist interventions for offenders.
The successful candidate will maintain an effective case management service, ensuring continuity of treatment throughout a patient's care pathway while detained in prison. You will also be responsible for implementing strategies to promote and improve health and prevent disease within the prison setting.
As a senior member of staff, you will be involved in the day-to-day coordination of the Healthcare Team, supporting junior colleagues and ensuring systems are in place for clinical supervision.
Main Duties- Deliver high-quality clinical care within the Integrated Healthcare Service for the prison, including acute and primary care, long-term conditions management, and health promotion activities.
- Demonstrate expert clinical skills and provide a pro-active approach to ensure quality and outcome-driven practice on a day-to-day basis.
- Support the development of evidence-based practice in the specialist field and promote research as appropriate.
- Participate in managerial and professional clinical supervision programs to ensure junior staff receive appropriate supervision, training, and annual appraisal.
- Postgraduate qualification or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of two years' experience at Band 5.
- Working knowledge of current issues and agendas facing prison and offender healthcare.
- Experience of setting, monitoring, and evaluating standards of care.
The estimated salary for this role is £45,000-£60,000 per annum, depending on experience. The NHS offers a range of benefits, including pension schemes, annual leave, and opportunities for career development and personal growth.
