UKRI Centre for Doctoral Training in Environmental Intelligence: Data Science and AI for Sustainable Futures

We are seeking highly motivated and talented individuals to join our Centre for Doctoral Training in Environmental Intelligence. As a PhD researcher, you will be part of a world-class training environment that integrates data from multiple sources to provide evidence and tools for informed decision-making and technological innovation.

Our training programme covers a range of skills, including computational skills, governance, ethics, and communication. You will work with our external partners, including the Met Office, and international institutions and businesses to ensure you are well-versed in cutting-edge methodology and on-the-ground policy and business implementation.

We welcome applications from those who are expected to receive a 1st class or 2i undergraduate degree in a wide variety of subjects relevant to the application of Data Science and AI to environmental challenges. Additional training will be provided if required.

As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work on real-world problems and contribute to the development of innovative solutions. You will also receive a fully funded 4-year studentship, which covers University tuition fees, course fees, an annual stipend, and funds towards research activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research in Environmental Intelligence and contribute to the development of innovative solutions
  • Work with our external partners to ensure you are well-versed in cutting-edge methodology and on-the-ground policy and business implementation
  • Communicate and engage with a diverse range of stakeholders

Requirements:

  • Expected to receive a 1st class or 2i undergraduate degree in a relevant subject
  • Strong computational skills and ability to learn new skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
