Primary Loan Closer Job Description

HSBC is seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to join our team as a Primary Loan Closer. This role is a critical part of our Loan Syndicate team within LAF (Leveraged and Acquisition Finance) and is responsible for ensuring the timely closing of all primary loans trades.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Liaise with Issuer Services Operations and other internal teams, as well as external legal counsel and counterparts, to ensure seamless trade execution.
  • Manage the full portfolio of primary leveraged loans, covering LMA, LSTA, Par trades, and ensure that all documentation satisfies procedural and audit requirements.
  • Collaborate with Legal internal/external teams to execute transfer certificates and pricing letters/funding memos, following the trade life cycle from allocation to settlement.
  • Collect sub-allocations from all lending fund managers and ensure these entities are KYC'd ahead of settlement via Issuer Services or Middle Office as appropriate.
  • Execute transfer certificates/assignment agreements with investors to settle primary allocations either via ClearPar system or paper documentation.
Requirements:
  • Previous loan closing experience with a legal understanding of documentation is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of Clear par, Loan IQ, Debt domain, Excel, and LSTA and LMA documentation is essential.
  • Pro-active with a problem-solving attitude, excellent communication skills, and strong organisational skills are required to ensure transaction deadlines are achieved.
  • Able to deliver high accuracy and volume of work to excellent standards under pressure.
