About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sous Chef to join our team at San Carlo in Cheshire. As a key member of our kitchen team, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the kitchen, including food preparation, cooking, and plating.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage kitchen staff, including hiring, training, and scheduling
  • Maintain a happy and engaged team through 1:1 meetings, incentives, and recognition
  • Inductions for all new starters in line with company procedure
  • Manage the Junior Sous Chefs to ensure all training is to company standards
  • Mentor any new members of the team, to ensure a positive working experience
  • Ensure that all kitchen staff follow food safety and sanitation guidelines and kitchen procedures
  • Manage food inventory and ordering supplies as needed
  • Ensure that all kitchen equipment is properly maintained and repaired as needed
  • Collaborate with other kitchen staff and restaurant management to ensure that food is prepared and served in a timely manner
  • Handle customer complaints or issues related to food quality or service

Requirements:

  • 2 years' experience in a similar role
  • Team management experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail, highly organized, and capable of handling multiple tasks
  • A proactive self-starter who can work independently with good judgment and minimal direction
