A Key Role in Our Operations

The Traffic Dispatcher will play a vital role in the day-to-day management of our Depot operations. This includes allocating and routing vehicles to ensure best-in-class service delivery to customers, maintaining health and safety standards, and ensuring environmental and O licence compliance. The successful candidate will also support employee engagement, continuous improvement in productivity, and quality of service provision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage route efficiency and utilize optimum disposal outlets to ensure effective use of vehicles and facilities.
  • Manage driver availability and coverage in line with legislation and company procedures to ensure suitable coverage at all times.
  • Perform administrative duties, including input of pay and bonus onto company systems, and accurate input of disposal information.
  • Proactively manage vehicle availability, including liaison with fleet, safe vehicle operations, wheel security, and monitoring vehicle gross weights.
  • Supervise vehicle availability on a daily basis, ensuring drivers have completed their checks in accordance with company policy.
  • Contribute towards ongoing cost control, actively seeking to improve efficiency and reduce operating costs.
  • Ensure all administrative tasks associated with the Dispatch office are completed, including time sheets, tachograph records, payroll records, holiday rotas, and resolution of QLS.

Requirements

  • Minimum GCSE or equivalent in Maths & English.
  • Experience of a position of similar responsibility in Services or Logistics industry.
  • Local geographical knowledge.
  • Good transport / logistics knowledge.
  • Articulate, confident, and assertive.
  • The ability to communicate with conviction, plan with precision, and work well with others.
