Job Overview

Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Locum Consultant in Specialist Palliative Medicine to join our team. As a key member of our multi-disciplinary team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our palliative care services.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide consultant-led care to patients in Doncaster Royal Infirmary, working closely with the Specialist Palliative Care hospital team.
  • Offer expert clinical opinions and advice to healthcare professionals in the community and hospitals as needed.
  • Deliver weekly specialist palliative care clinics, providing comprehensive assessments and treatment plans for patients.
  • Attend and contribute to Community Specialist Palliative Care MDT meetings and Hospice Inpatient MDT meetings.
  • Review inpatients at the Hospice, providing leave cover to the inpatient unit and participating in ward rounds.

Requirements

  • High level of clinical experience and competence in all aspects of Palliative Medicine.
  • Ability to offer expert clinical opinions on a range of problems within the specialty.
  • Experience of working with and leading others across professions.

Desirable Criteria

  • Wide-based experience in Palliative Medicine.
  • Attendance at a recognised management course.

Qualifications

  • MRCP or equivalent.
  • Continued Licence to Practise.

Teaching and Training

  • Experience of and enthusiasm for clinical teaching of postgraduate doctors and non-medical staff.

Audit and Research

  • Knowledge of Audit principles and evidence of participation in and completion of audit projects.

Personal Qualities

  • Ability to use IT systems, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Evidence of innovation and continual learning and development.
