Job Introduction

Join National Nuclear Laboratory as a Capability Manager and play a critical role in the success of our Remote Engineering, Design and Robotics team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing our dedicated team of experts based at our Workington Laboratory.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Co-ordinate and lead the operational activities within the Remote Engineering, Design and Robotics team, ensuring safe and successful delivery of customer work scopes.
  • Assure continuous improvement of team activities, identifying opportunities for operational improvements, staff development, and recruitment.
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and direction to team members with a range of experience in an engineering workplace.
  • Develop and implement strategies to nurture and support the team, ensuring the mental health and wellbeing of team members.

Accountabilities:

  • EHSS&Q Accountabilities: Duty of care for all staff, ownership and safe operations of equipment and facilities, delivery of projects, programs, and technical work.
  • Capability Accountabilities: Staff leadership, performance, availability, SQEP, competency review, development, technical training, progression, and recruitment.
  • Budget Control Accountabilities: Support the Capability Leader for all budgetary control associated with the team, measured against budget control through KPIs.
  • Customer Delivery Accountabilities: Work with Account Directors and Customer Workstream Leads to engage with customers, maximise business opportunities, and deliver technical excellence.

Requirements:

  • A directly relevant science degree or an equivalent level of relevant experience.
  • Line management experience, working to high quality standards in a highly regulated environment.
  • Ability to obtain SC level security clearance.
