Capability Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Capability Manager to join our team at National Nuclear Laboratory. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in leading our Remote Engineering, Design and Robotics team to deliver exceptional results and drive business growth.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in engineering, with experience in managing teams and leading projects. You will be responsible for coordinating and leading operational activities, ensuring safe and successful delivery of customer work scopes, and driving continuous improvement within the team.
We are looking for a motivated and results-driven individual who can provide guidance, coaching, and direction to team members with a range of experience in an engineering workplace. You will identify opportunities for operational improvements, staff development, and recruitment, and work closely with the team to achieve our goals.
Key Responsibilities- EHSS&Q Accountabilities: The Capability Manager will be accountable for EHSS&Q within their team, including duty of care for all staff, ownership and safe operations of equipment and facilities, delivery of projects and programs, and delivery of EHSS&Q Assurance and Improvement Plans.
- Capability Accountabilities: The CM will be accountable for all resources within their team, including staff leadership, performance, availability, SQEP, competency review, development, technical training, progression, and recruitment, as well as facilities and equipment maintenance, renewal, disposal, repair, inspection, access, and utilization.
- Budget Control Accountabilities: The CM will support the Capability Leader for all budgetary control associated with their team and will be measured against budget control through KPIs, including staff costs, facilities and equipment costs, and customer delivery.
- Customer Delivery Accountabilities: The CM will be accountable for all customer delivery associated with their team, including work with Account Directors and Customer Workstream Leads to engage with customers, technical excellence in customer delivery, technical resolution, and leadership accountabilities.
- A directly relevant science degree or an equivalent level of relevant experience.
- Line management experience.
- Working to high quality standards in a highly regulated environment.
- Ability to obtain SC level security clearance.
- Clear communication style.
- Knowledge of CM&I regulations.
- Experienced in SSOW and Work permissioning processes.
