Job Summary

The Colorectal Surgery Department at Leeds Teaching Hospitals is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality care to patients with colorectal and general surgical conditions.

Main Duties

The Consultant will be expected to:

  • Deliver clinical services as agreed with commissioners and other stakeholders
  • Continuously improve the quality and efficiency of personal and team practice
  • Work with other staff and teams to ensure that the various criteria for service delivery are met
About the Department

The John Goligher Colorectal Department at Leeds Teaching Hospitals has a reputation for high-quality education and research. The department is currently engaged in a large number of national studies and trials. The department also has a significant reputation as a large provider of specialist and sub-specialist Colorectal services.

Requirements

The successful candidate will need to:

  • Hold full GMC Registration with a license to practice
  • Be on the GMC Specialist Register via CCT (proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview) or CESR
  • Have completed a recognised training programme in General Surgery with a Colorectal subspecialty interest
  • Have MB BS (or equivalent) and FRCS or equivalent qualification
  • Have CCT with subspecialty accreditation in Colorectal Surgery (or within six months of same) or equivalent qualification
Working Environment

The post will be based at Lincoln Wing, St James's University Teaching Hospital. The department is co-located with acute general surgery wards, HDU, ICU, the same day admission unit, the surgical assessment area, and the generic general surgery/urology 5-day wards.
