Job Title: Pancreatic Surgery Consultant

This is a 10 PA locum appointment for a Consultant Surgeon, with a special interest in Pancreatic Surgery. The post will be available immediately for a period of 6 months.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have an on-call commitment of 1 in 10 shared with the other Pancreatic and Upper GI surgeons. Applicants should have established skills and competencies in Pancreatic and General Surgery. A strong academic record with evidence of publications and successful grant applications is essential.

Main Duties of the Job
  • To deliver care to patients with pancreatic conditions within Leeds and the surrounding areas.
  • Out-patient clinics
  • Supervision of patients
  • Care of acute patients on a 1 in 10 basis
  • Contribute to Specialist Multi-disciplinary team meetings
  • To link with Consultant colleagues in other relevant site specialist teams within the West Yorkshire region.
  • To work with colleagues in General Surgery to deliver acute on call (currently 1 in 10) This includes both out-of-hours cover in addition to acute ward rounds during normal working hours.
  • To lead academic clinical and basic science projects within our research group. To obtain funding for academic projects. The post holder will be encouraged to facilitate and contribute to the current clinical research programs on going in the department.
  • To contribute to teaching, and new developments within the Trust.
