Transform the lives of children and young people by joining Barnardo's innovative project introducing a new parenting intervention to address youth violence in the UK.
We are seeking enthusiastic practitioners with experience working with young people and their families, preferably in serious youth violence contexts. Passionate about improving outcomes for at-risk youth through positive parental support, you will work in a team to deliver the GEN PMTO programme after comprehensive training. Maintaining programme integrity is crucial, requiring attendance at all training sessions and adherence to course material outlines. Gathering feedback, outcomes, and impact data will be a central aspect of this role, as this information will be vital in determining the programme's effectiveness. We need a strong, cohesive team that is open to exploring innovative ways of working with parents to enhance outcomes for young people.
Barnardo's believes every child has the right to a fulfilling life, realizing their potential, and having a positive future. We focus on building stronger families and enhancing family bonds through partnerships.
This London-based job requires delivering the programme to groups of parents in two identified boroughs to assess its effectiveness in the UK. The 37-hour workweek will be flexible across the week, with some evening and weekend work possible. Travel around London may be necessary, with occasional home-based days for administrative tasks.
The salary for this position ranges from £28,283 to £32,323, dependent on experience. This is a permanent contract expected to run from July 2023 to March 2026. Interviews will take place prior to the advert closing date, and the posting will close once all positions have been filled.
This role offers:
- A chance to be part of the first trial of a highly successful project in the UK
- To make a significant difference in the lives of children and young people by strengthening family bonds
- A challenging and rewarding job
- Comprehensive training on the successful programme, providing considerable learning and development opportunities
- A supportive working environment and management team
Requirements for this position include:
- A relevant professional qualification, such as Social Work, Youth Work, Probation, Health, Education, or a degree with relevant experience
- An enhanced DBS check is required (payable by Barnardo's)
- The successful candidate should enjoy trialling new programmes and be a proven solution-based, positive leader
- No prior knowledge of the programme is necessary, as full training will be provided, which must be attended
- Travel across London to deliver sessions and maintaining good relationships with the team is essential, along with minimal home working for administrative tasks
Please refer to the attached person and profile specification for the essential criteria relating to this post and the additional information sheet for more specific details and qualification requirements.
