Job Summary

VVB Engineering (UK) Limited is seeking a highly skilled Senior Public Health Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for providing mechanical and public health engineering support on the HS2 Old Oak Common project.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a small engineering team to deliver the design, installation, and commissioning of mechanical and public health systems at HS2 Old Oak Common Station.
  • Undertake mechanical and public health design reviews to ensure compliance with current project standards and best practices.
  • Manage a 3rd party design consultant to deliver design deliverables required for the project.
  • Liaise with the main contractor, HS2, and HS2's designers to review comments and agree an efficient way forward.
  • Ensure design risk assessment is compliant with installation parameters.
  • Participate in and chair HazID, HazOP, and HazCONs as required by the client.
  • Provide engineered solutions to key project problems to satisfy client expectations, project restrictions, and budget considerations.
  • Manage all associated design registers, meeting minutes, drawing registers, and ensure all formal communication is undertaken and managed.
  • Direct liaison with CAD/BIM team to ensure correct drawing modeling to BIM or other standards.
  • Attend and participate in interdisciplinary design reviews and checks.
  • Development of scope documents for tenders and procurement processes.
  • Liaison with manufacturers to determine product suitability, in partnership with procurement.
  • Attendance at FAT and SAT to ensure compliance with requirements.
  • Support and carry out the commissioning of mechanical systems.
  • Carry out site surveys/visits for project purposes.
  • Direct liaison with installation teams to ensure design suitability, works methodology, and solve key installation issues.
  • Working with the commercial department to track technical or design change and variances.
  • Working with the planning department to plan design, installation, and T&C works.
  • Management of subcontractor works as appropriate.
  • Ensure design and works comply with VVB/Anthro and client quality management systems.
  • Keep up to date with all mechanical, construction, and relevant legislation, law, standards, and best practices.
Requirements
  • Seven years of experience within a similar mechanical or public health engineering position.
  • Previously worked within the infrastructure/construction environment.
  • Mechanical and public health design experience.
  • Experience with offsite construction, modularization, pre-fabrication, and DfMA.
  • Degree in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering.
  • Engineering Council Registration as Incorporated Engineer.
  • Registered member of IMechE, IET, CIBSE, or other recognized Engineering Council Institutions.
  • SMSTS, SSSTS, or IOSH Managing Safety.
  • CSCS Card AQP or PQP minimum.
  • Full UK driver's license.
