We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Advanced Dissector to join our team at University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust. As a key member of our histopathology department, you will play a crucial role in supporting the consultant team and contributing to the delivery of high-quality diagnostic services.
Key Responsibilities- Participate in the surgical dissection of diagnostic B-E graded histopathology specimens, working closely with consultants and other team members to ensure accurate and timely results.
- Act as a designated person responsible for coordinating activities for the dissection team in the absence of the Section Lead or their deputy.
- Work collaboratively with the dissection team to improve quality, efficiency, and productivity, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes as needed.
- Participate in audits to monitor the effectiveness of dissection practices and facilitate the implementation of service improvement changes based on findings.
- Facilitate the induction, training, and competencies of staff within the dissection area, including Trainee Biomedical Scientists, Biomedical Scientists of all grades, Healthcare Associate Practitioners, MTOs, and ATOs.

Requirements- Completed diploma of expert practice in histological dissection.
- State registration with the Health Care Professions Council as a Biomedical Scientist.
- Fellow of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences (FIBMS) by examination or hold an MSc in Biomedical Sciences or significant equivalent experience in a specialist discipline in Pathology.
- Supervisory skills course - Trust or equivalent.
