Job Title: Learning Support Assistant

Job Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and caring Learning Support Assistant to provide individualised support to a student with Special Educational Needs (SEN). The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and other professionals to ensure the student can access the curriculum and engage in all aspects of school life.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to the student, ensuring they are fully engaged in classroom activities.
  • Assist the student with learning tasks, helping them to achieve their individual targets.
  • Support the student's social, emotional, and behavioural development.
  • Help implement strategies and interventions outlined in the student's Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP).
  • Adapt learning materials and activities to suit the needs of the student.
  • Work collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals to ensure a holistic approach to support.
  • Provide regular feedback on the student's progress and well-being to teachers and parents.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children with SEN, particularly in a 1:1 setting.
  • Strong understanding of a range of SEN conditions, such as Autism, ADHD, or learning difficulties.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to build a positive relationship with the student.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external specialists.
  • Experience using interventions and strategies tailored to support students with SEN is desirable.
