About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design and Engineering professional to join our team as a Director, Electrical Design and Engineering in the UK. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and leading electrical design strategies that enable our global program to bring capacity to market safely, quickly, and with high quality.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and lead the electrical design strategies that are the basis of our UK program, including electrical systems for hyperscale data centers, sub-station, site & facility power distribution, and backup power systems.
  • Direct the development of our UK electrical design roadmap, evaluating new technologies to determine their value in support of our customers' future needs and business objectives.
  • Stay up-to-date with advancements in electrical engineering and data center technologies, recommending new technologies to improve the reliability and efficiency of our data center infrastructure.
  • Provide leadership and direction to regional teams in support of implementing electrical design strategies globally.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop design criteria and project budget strategies that meet customer requirements and business objectives.
  • Provide technical review and design direction for our global site selection program, coordinating sub-station design and site utility power distribution with electrical utility providers.
  • Support the technical review and qualification of our global equipment vendor selections.
  • Support review and selection of global consultant teams.
  • Evaluate customer requirements and provide technical responses and documentation, interfacing with customers to understand requirements and develop solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and regulations.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Minimum 10 years' relevant experience in electrical design and/or electrical engineering, focusing on data center infrastructure
  • Professional Engineering license
  • Strong knowledge of electrical design, utility sub-stations (HV), power distribution systems (MV & LV), UPS, and backup power systems
  • Knowledge of industry standards, codes, and regulations
  • Experience with electrical safety processes & procedures and SCCAF studies, including implementation
  • Experience with high-density data centers and hyperscale environments
  • Experience in construction methods, schedules, and budgets as it relates to data center electrical systems
  • Experience with prefabrication/modular construction and manufacturing techniques
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills

What We Offer

Salary: £120,000 - £150,000 per annum, commensurate with experience and background. Bonus eligible. Comprehensive benefits package.

The work for this position will be conducted in an office environment. The role may require maintaining a stationary position for extended periods, operating a computer and other office productivity machinery, attending to tasks for extended periods, and communicating accurate information effectively and efficiently.
