About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant Shop Manager to join our team at The Children's Society. As a key member of our shop management team, you will be responsible for supporting the Shop Manager in leading a team of volunteers to achieve sales targets and maximize the net contribution of the shop.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Shop Manager in leading a team of volunteers to achieve sales targets and maximize the net contribution of the shop.
  • Work with volunteers to create a welcoming and positive experience for all customers and staff.
  • Develop and implement sales and marketing strategies to increase shop sales and revenue.
  • Manage and maintain shop displays and visual merchandising to maximize sales and customer engagement.
  • Monitor and control shop stock levels, including ordering and receiving stock.
  • Process sales transactions and manage cash handling and till operations.
  • Provide excellent customer service and respond to customer queries and complaints.
  • Work collaboratively with the Shop Manager and other team members to achieve shop goals and objectives.

Requirements

  • Experience in a retail or sales environment, preferably in a management or team leader role.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with volunteers and customers.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible approach to working hours and duties.
  • Knowledge of sales and marketing principles and practices, with the ability to develop and implement effective sales and marketing strategies.
  • Basic IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications.
