About the Role

The University of Leicester Ulverscroft Eye Unit is seeking a highly skilled Postdoctoral Research Associate to contribute to a cutting-edge research project exploring the potential of retinal image-derived phenotypes in disease prediction and modelling. This exciting opportunity will involve genome-wide and phenome-wide association studies, as well as the application of deep learning to imaging datasets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Co-develop and carry out an independent original research programme in line with the strategic priorities of the group
  • Manage large-scale genotype and phenotype datasets
  • Supervise clinical studies
  • Support research staff and PhD/iMSc/project students
About the Team

The Ulverscroft Eye Unit is a clinical research unit and centre of excellence in ophthalmic research, boasting state-of-the-art research facilities and a diverse team of experts with expertise in clinical ophthalmology, genetics, imaging, engineering, electrophysiology, programming, eye tracking, and visual behaviour.

About You

We are seeking a candidate with a strong background in bioinformatics, computational biology, or a closely related field. The ideal candidate will be creative and ambitious, with excellent communication skills and a keen interest in tackling challenging projects. Experience with genetic data analysis and statistical genetics methodologies is essential, as is proficiency in statistical programming languages and a good understanding of genetic and molecular biology concepts.
