We are seeking a highly skilled Ship Design Engineer to join our team at BAE Systems in Portsmouth Naval Base.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct structural analyses using ANSYS Finite Element Analysis software and theoretical methods
  • Perform stability analyses using Paramarine naval architecture software
  • Participate in inclining experiments of naval ships and complete post-experiment analysis
  • Design ship modifications and capability upgrades
  • Undertake technical analysis for drydocking of ships
  • Provide expertise for through-life maintenance and support of ships
  • Consult on naval base facilities requiring naval architecture knowledge
  • Participate in various activities including concept upgrade design, detailed design, support to build, delivery and in-service support to surface ship platforms and naval base facilities

Requirements:

  • Qualified to degree level, MEng in Naval Architecture / Marine Technology / Ship Science
  • Experience with structural analysis using ANSYS Workbench
  • Knowledge of the whole ship engineering design process
  • Familiarity with hydromechanic aspects of surface ship design, particularly stability
  • Experience with CAD software such as AutoCAD, Inventor
  • Familiarity with naval architectural software, preferably PARAMARINE

A competitive salary of £42,000, depending on skills and experience, plus additional benefits including a pension scheme, enhanced annual leave allowance, Company contributed Share Incentive Plan, flexible working, an employee assistance programme, Cycle2work and employee discounts. You may also be eligible for an annual incentive.
