We are seeking a skilled and experienced Clinical Coder to join our team. As a progressive department, we prioritize training and development, and we are committed to providing outstanding patient care.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in clinical coding, with experience in coding various specialties within the NHS. They will be able to apply independent judgment when translating clinical information and will have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

We offer a flexible and adaptable work environment, with the option to work on-site or remotely. Our team is committed to creating accurate and clinically coded data, adhering to national clinical coding standards.

Main duties of the job:

  • Analyze and interpret clinical information to create accurate coded data
  • Translate clinical documentation into an alphanumeric coded format
  • Be proficient in navigation of ICD 10 and OPCS classifications
  • Work independently, prioritizing workload and adhering to departmental directives
  • Attend training and specialty workshops to maintain and enhance knowledge and skills
  • Support the department in its commitment to service delivery

Person Specification:

  • Accredited Clinical Coder status
  • Attendance at Speciality Coding workshops
  • Educated to Degree Level or equivalent

Skills:

  • Current and continuous clinical coding experience of at least 3 years within the NHS
  • Ability to apply independent judgment when translating clinical information
  • Knowledge and experience of interpreting and applying nationally mandated standards
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Flexible and adaptable approach to work
  • Ability to work independently without direct supervision and as part of a team
