We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Applied Scientist to join our Alexa Conversational Modelling Intelligence team at ENGINEERINGUK.
About the Role
You will be responsible for defining key research directions focusing on Large Language Models (LLMs), adopting or inventing new NLP techniques, conducting rigorous experiments, publishing results, and ensuring that research is translated into practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead research efforts in LLMs and NLP
- Develop and deploy innovative NLP solutions at scale
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive business impact
- Mentor and train research scientists on complex technical issues
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A PhD with specialization in artificial intelligence, natural language processing, machine learning, or computational cognitive science
- 10+ years of combined academic and research experience with a strong publication record in top-tier journals and conferences
- Expert-level skills in LLMs and NLP
- Demonstrated experience in training LLMs through pre-training, self-supervised training, and large-scale fine-tuning
- Published research work in academic conferences or industry circles in NLP top-tier conferences
- Experience working with real-world datasets and building scalable models from big data
