About the Role

Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated and experienced Special Education Needs and Disability Co-Ordinator to join one of our client schools. This is a full-time position, requiring the successful candidate to work five days a week. Our client school is looking for someone to effectively support their SEND provision, ensuring students with special educational needs or disabilities have access to the curriculum. The successful candidate will preferably hold Qualified Teacher Status and the National Award for SEN Coordination (NA SENCO).

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure students with SEND or disabilities have full entitlement to the curriculum.
  • Provide professional guidance to colleagues to support the needs of pupils.
  • Have an excellent understanding of the principles of inclusive teaching.
  • Be strong in the use of data to track progress and identify needs.
  • Understand the importance of early identification of pupils with additional needs.
  • Have an understanding of a range of strategies and research-based interventions to support staff to meet the needs of pupils.
  • Support staff with delivering a Trauma Informed School approach to behaviour support.

Requirements
  • Be registered with Prospero Teaching and complete all required vetting checks.
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application.
  • Provide two professional child-related references.
