Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Physics Technician to join our thriving Science Department at Whitgift School, part of the John Whitgift Foundation. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the teaching and learning of science subjects, working alongside our existing Science technicians to provide exceptional laboratory support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of laboratory equipment and materials
  • Provide technical support for the teaching of IGCSE, International Baccalaureate (IB), and A-Level science subjects
  • Work collaboratively with the Senior Physics Technician, Team Leader Technician, Head of Physics, and Head of Science to ensure the smooth operation of the Science Department
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of laboratory procedures and protocols
  • Support the qualification of technicians through the Association for Science Education (ASE)

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a school Science Technician or equivalent
  • Knowledge of laboratory procedures and familiarity with laboratory equipment commonly used in Physics teaching
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development

What We Offer

A competitive salary range of £36,953 to £39,201 per annum (full-time), or £30,983 to £32,868 per annum (pro-rata) for a Term-Time plus two weeks contract. A generous benefits package, including a money purchase pension scheme, employee discount club, and range of family-friendly benefits.
