We are seeking an experienced Platform Engineering Manager to lead the creation and maintenance of tools and infrastructure that enable our product engineers to work more efficiently and securely. As a key member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in developing standards and best practices, ensuring that our platform is robust, scalable, and dependable.
Key Responsibilities- Build and maintain the central infrastructure that is foundational to our platform, including AKS clusters and API gateways.
- Create and maintain standards and ways of working that enable us to manage key non-functional requirements, such as security and cost optimization.
- Promote a culture of accountability and ownership by creating self-serve platform tooling that makes product engineers more efficient without relying on you and your team to get their code to production.
- Collaborate with product engineers to understand their pain points and prioritize the platform engineering backlog.
- Participate in architecture design sessions to ensure our platform capabilities are aligned with business goals.
- Enable product engineers to build on the platform successfully through collaborating with teams, running knowledge sharing sessions, and maintaining clear documentation.
- Supervise and mentor a team of IT professionals, fostering a collaborative environment and ensuring continuous skill development.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders across the organization to identify needs, propose solutions, and provide updates on IT initiatives.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to recommend and implement innovative solutions that provide a competitive edge.
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or demonstrable knowledge of infrastructure and automation-related technologies.
- Experience in a similar role at a company with a distributed cloud architecture.
- Experience with containerization and Kubernetes.
- Experience implementing effective CICD pipelines, along with the associated scripting and automation skills.
- Knowledge of DevSecOps and how to create secure delivery pipelines.
- Ability to make pragmatic, risk-based decisions that balance the commercial objectives of the business with non-functional requirements of the technology platform.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
