Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Assistant to join our Cell Biology team at the Discovery Centre laboratories. As a Research Assistant, you will have the opportunity to work on exciting projects, develop new skills, and contribute to the advancement of our research.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct experiments on stem cells and glial cells to investigate biochemistry and signalling in neurodegeneration, with a focus on neurogenesis and cellular senescence.
  • Support the development of new assays, models, and methods to enhance our research capabilities.
  • Communicate research findings effectively through oral and written reports.
  • Stay up-to-date with published research and apply this knowledge to guide internal research.
  • Assist with general laboratory duties, including ordering and cell line checks.
Requirements
  • You will be a current undergraduate student looking to complete a 12-month student internship as part of your degree.
  • You should be studying a Biological sciences degree or equivalent qualification.
  • You should have a good understanding of molecular and cellular biology and biochemistry.
  • Practical laboratory experience is desirable but not essential.
  • You should have a basic understanding of statistical analysis.
