Main Job Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to fulfill a role as a consultant physician in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and General Internal Medicine. The appointee will undertake General Medical on-call duties, as part of the existing rota, and will be expected to contribute to the re-establishment of acute medicine for the future.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage inpatients admitted to the ward and patients admitted on their take.
  • Contribute to the re-establishment of acute medicine for the future.
  • Undertake General Medical on-call duties as part of the existing rota.
  • Provide a minimum of 2 post-take ward rounds in ED and AMU while on call.
Working Conditions

The post holder will be based on the diabetes and general medical ward, outpatients department, and will join the GIM on-call rota. The appointment will be under the terms of the Welsh Consultant Contract.

Person Specification

Essential Qualifications

  • Full GMC Registration.
  • On the specialist register and have CESR within 6 months.
  • CCST GIM.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Higher Post-Grad qualification.

Essential Experience

  • Min 4 years' training in appropriate Diabetes / Acute Med SpR programme or equivalent.
  • Familiar with NHS.
  • Ability to take full responsibility for clinical care of patients.
