Job Summary

This is a unique opportunity for an ambitious and motivated individual to join our innovative psychology-led Intensive Support Team (IST) as an Assistant Psychologist. The post holder will be part of a multi-agency team consisting of clinical psychology, learning disability nursing, speech therapy, occupational therapy, and clinical support workers.

We are seeking an experienced and skilled professional to work alongside our team, supporting the work of qualified Psychologists, Community Learning Disability Nurses, and Speech Therapists and Occupational Therapists in the preparation, instigation, and evaluation of a variety of clinical, teaching, and research tasks.

The successful candidate will have a good knowledge of developmental and clinical aspects of psychology, as well as experience of using computer software packages and demonstrated interest in working with people with mental health problems. They will also have the ability to work to tight deadlines, communicate effectively with people from different backgrounds, and maintain highly developed verbal and written communication skills.

Main Responsibilities

  • Analyse service information, such as routine outcome measures, and present results to the clinical team.
  • Assist qualified Clinical Psychologists in implementing psychological interventions, including using assessment procedures to collect relevant data, analysis of data, and evaluating interventions.
  • Communicate sensitive information with children, families, and parent groups both verbally and in writing.
  • Liaise with other professionals, such as school teachers and social workers, in undertaking assessments and interventions.
